Breed

In July we got a rescue puppy. They told us the breed mix and looking at pictures it seemed to be correct. But as he began to grow it caused us to have questions. One breed was very clear but the other was becoming questionable. He was taller than we thought he would be. He had more energy than expected and his skill set was more advanced than the breed told to us. He then began to do things the breed told to us couldn't do. He jumps higher than normal upward and like a gazelle at other times. Based on what he was demonstrating to us we had to determine what the other breed was. This information was pivotal in order to raise him properly and know his expectations as well as ours. When we discovered the second breed and read the description everything made sense. We had to learn his new breed's name to identify him properly.

As I thought about this I could see the parallel with people. Some of us have been identified based on certain skill sets and abilities. But as we've grown and developed other abilities became obvious, but they haven't always been understood. We may have tried to fit in those configurations, but the additional skill sets, and abilities determine we need a different type of training and leadership. We have a different appetite and need a different regimen based on our build. When you no longer fit descriptions and structures you don't have to force yourself to stay in them. You do best discovering your full identity and connecting with those equipped to nurture it properly.
