Water Walkers
In service, on Sunday, the passage with Jesus and Peter walking on water was expressed. I’ve been meditating on that passage since then and I wanted to point out a few things as an encouragement. Matthew 14:22-33 is when this occurs. Jesus instructs his disciples to get in a boat to go to the other side ahead of him. While separated the disciples see Jesus walking on the water and coming toward them. They are astounded and afraid but when Peter is able to confirm it is Jesus he takes a leap of faith to be like Jesus. He steps out and walks on the water.
There are some reading this passage who moved like the disciples and obeyed the instructions of the Lord. But now you may find yourself uncomfortable with those instructions. It may cause you to question what you heard and if you are doing the right thing. Some even in the uncomfortable took a huge step of faith and even stepped into/onto something unstable (water) but had trust while doing it. But circumstances around you are affecting the trust you originally had. What I want you to focus on is verses 30 and 31 "But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him."
I have a question for you, How far did Peter walk on water? How far was he from the boat? He was close enough to where Jesus only had to reach out his hand. How far has your faith walk taken you? How long have you been able to maneuver in the unstable? Know that you are closer to the destination than you think. Don't be discouraged embrace where your faith has brought you thus far. The other side is waiting for you!!
