Poem: Shed More

Shed More

As I watched it disconnect and fall to the ground,

I reflected on how loosing this leaf was so profound.

With so many leaves being on my massive tree,

Some may wonder how could, one mean so much to me.

But this leaf reflected more than a mere extension,

It was a part of my character that brought great apprehension.

It was on out shoot of me ingrained by others,

When my personality was controlled and voice smothered.

It was a leaf that I thought would never fall,

For years it’s grip seemed to have a root-like nature after all.

But one moment of truth brought with it a challenge,

That forced me to no longer ignore or continue to manage.

One encounter completely changed the flow,

And caused the root nature to be lifted and hinder the grow.

It was an uncomfortable moment, season and time,

For what was once strongly rooted started to unravel and unwind.

Before I would have thought it would bring grief,

But I can’t express the joy with the disconnection of this leaf.

It reflected the power of the inner healing done,

When honesty, truth and transparency produce a beautiful sum.

As it fell a tear from my eye was softly released,

It wasn’t from pain, trauma or turmoil but true inner peace.

For it showed me how my journey has not been in vain,

But there is more to accomplish and more healing to gain.

And that release was actually a much larger door,

A true invitation to invite me to embrace its time to Shed More.
